Q:
Can I run Win95/98 programs in NT4.0?

Q:
When dialing I get the error message 'There is no dial tone'. What's
wrong?
A:
This minor error can have a few causes. Make sure the phone line
is securely plugged into the wall, modem, and computer. If the problem
persists plug that particular phone line into a phone to make sure
the line is not dead. If you need to dial '9' to get an outside
line and you don't, this error could appear.

Q:
When I connect I am prompted for my username and password. Then
I am disconnected with the message 'Error 5: Access denied'. What
am I doing wrong?
A:
Make sure you are entering your username and password correctly.
Remember that they are cASe SeNSitIVe, so type them exactly as they
appear on your welcome letter.

Q:
Am I assigned a new IP address or do I always get the same one?
A:
Our servers assign you an IP address each time you log onto World
Lynx. If you attempt to use a particular IP address in your phone
book entry (unless you have a dedicated line) your connection will
be refused and NT4.0 will respond with error 735 'the requested
address was rejected'.

Q:
Can I use other protocols to connect to World Lynx such as IPX or
NetBEUI instead of TCP/IP?
A:
Only TCP/IP can be used to connect to World Lynx or the rest of
the Internet for that matter. If either of the other protocols are
checked in your phone book entry for World Lynx you will not be
able to connect.

Q:
What kind of Authentication should I use when connecting to World
Lynx?

including clear text". The error associated with this is usually
734.

Q:
What should my baud rate be set at in NT4.0?

Q:
NT4.0 won't dial and is giving me a 'Hardware Failure error 692'.
A:
This problem is usually associated with the modem or cables. Make
sure all cables are connected and the modem is turned on. With an
external modem, try turning the modem off and then on. For internal
modems, power down your computer completely and then reboot. You
may want to try the modem on another computer to verify that it
works.

Q:
Can I use ISDN with NT4.0?
A:
Yes, just follow the standard installation guide and select your
ISDN device as the modem. Your baud rate should be set at 115200
for dual channel or 57600 for single channel ISDN. If you have a
USR Sportster ISDN modem you must contact USR for the firmware patch
before it will work with NT4.0.

Q:
What is the default gateway and should I have it checked?
A:
Yes, you should have it checked in your phone book entry under TCP/IP
settings. The default gateway is your entrance to our system.

Q:
When I tried to dial I got 'error 676 Line is busy'?
A:
This can be caused by several factors. Usually it means the line
is already in use. Check the line to make sure no one is using it.
This error can also be caused if you dial a number and a modem does
not answer.

Q:
Should I use a connection script when I connect to World Lynx?
A:

the Script tab in your phone book entry is "none". You may experience
problems connecting if you attempt to use one.

happens. Even the buttons are grayed out. Why is this?

be the case if you cannot install Dial-Up Networking.
